Paris Petridis’s photographs are a record of the mute yet eloquent presence of animals in today’s world, as silent witnesses to environments made by humans. Whether in desolate landscapes and vacant cityscapes or in peaceful corners of the Greek countryside, animals are forced to adapt to the consequences of human activity. His images invite us to look beyond the surface of things: to acknowledge animals not as part of the backdrop to the environments shaped by humanity, but as beings that share these environments with us; that experience them and often struggle to survive in them. The series investigates our ambivalence vis-à-vis non-human beings – a relationship which alternates between selective or exploitative and indifference, disregard or cruelty.

Paris Petridis was born in Thessaloniki, Greece; he lives and works between Thessaloniki and Florina, Greece.

Petridis is a photographer who explores themes of history, memory, and urban transformation. His work captures the evolving character of landscapes and cityscapes, revealing subtle tensions between past and present. Through a documentary approach infused with poetic sensibility, he examines the traces of human activity, its impact on nature and non-human life, and the silent narratives embedded in built environments.
